“It seems like the best hour of the month is during our home visit. All of my attention is on my son. The educators come alongside you and help you to realize your potential as a parent and teacher for your own child. I have grown as a parent in how I work and teach my children through everyday activities. I have gained confidence and skills to be with him and having fun while doing it. He gains social skills at play group, the library and many other events throughout the month. Thank you everyone for this program!”
“My name is Brandy and I got pregnant at 14. I felt alone and one day I was called down to the school office and told about the Parents as Teachers program. I joined and enjoyed learning about parenting. I had a lot of problems when I was pregnant, and Parents as Teachers was there for me when I had questions. My daughter Julia was a premie and boarn almost 2 months early. My group leader was there for me, answered all my questions and gave me information. Parents as Teachers has been there since I was 2 months pregnant. They have helped a lot and helped me stay in school. My Parent Educator was there when I felt like giving up and she helped me get through it. Now I am 17 years old wanting to finish high school and go to college. If it wasn’t for this program and my Parent Educator, I probably would not be where I am now.”
“My son Thomas and I joined PAT when he was 15 months old. Thomas is the youngest of four children. As an older, more experienced mom, I joined the group mainly for Thomas’ benefit. Thomas is now four and a half and I believe I learned more than him! Thomas has learned social skills, motor skills and reading preparedness. I have learned so many ways to creatively teach my child important lessons. We have so much fun with our educator. She is a good person who cares about all the children’s emotional and fundamental growth. I tell people and parents I meet that PAT enriches your life and your bonds with all your children!”
